Whitbread U16s Triumph in National Cup Showdown

The U16 rugby team competed in the national cup on Tuesday, January 28th. After successfully negotiating Norwich School in the previous round, Whitbread faced Rugby School in the last 16. Competing at the birthplace of rugby, Whitbread found themselves surrounded by incredible facilities and a formidable challenge.

At halftime, Whitbread trailed 12-8 and soon after the break fell behind 17-8 as Rugby began to play with greater width and flair. However, the U16s are a resilient group, and, like in previous matches, their powerful play helped them mount a comeback. With the score at 17-13 in the final moments of the game, Whitbread continued to apply significant pressure on their opponents. After more than 30 phases of relentless effort, the ball was spun wide to Year 10 winger Jonah R, who scored in the corner. 

Whitbread advanced after a thrilling 18-17 victory and will now face Northampton School for Boys in the quarterfinals.
