Stepping Into the Past: Year 10 Experience Life on the WW1 Front Lines

Year 10 experienced an immersive World War One workshop, trying on authentic uniforms and handling period weapons to deepen their understanding of the past.
This week, Year 10 History students had the unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of World War One through an immersive workshop led by David Allton from Frontline Living History. The session provided a hands-on exploration of wartime medicine, weaponry, and the daily challenges faced by soldiers on the front lines.
A memorable moment from the day was student Jude S trying on an authentic WW1 uniform, giving the class a real sense of what soldiers would have worn in the trenches. In addition, students were able to handle various period weapons, enhancing their knowledge of the equipment used in battle. Through these interactive elements, the workshop brought historical learning to life, allowing students to engage with the past in a meaningful way.
The event aimed to complement their GCSE studies by providing a practical perspective on the realities of war, including the medical advancements and tactical developments of the time. We extend our sincere thanks to David Allton for delivering such an engaging and educational experience for our students.
