This year, with exams having been cancelled, staff worked extremely hard to ensure the grading for every student was fair and based on a track record of mock exams and assessments. We are incredibly pleased the students’ hard work over the past two years has not been in vain and following the government's announcement to award students their centre assessment grades, this year's GCSEs were inline with previous years. 

Since 2018, a new grading system has been in place, with 9 – 1 replacing the old A* - G. Under the new system a Grade 7 equates to an A and 4 reads across to a C. The new grade 9 was designed to reward the very brightest and best students across the country.

This year there were a number of individual success stories, including Adam Sewell, who achieved the remarkable feat of ten straight grade 9s. Twins Ewan and Tamsin White both managed to match each other in achieving nine grade 9s and a grade 8 despite studying a different set of subjects.

Miss Tabert, Head of Year 11, said she was super proud of Chloe Benjamin, Emily Skull and Alex Williamson for achieving a fantastic set of results through incredible determination and resilience this year.

Miss Saggers, Pastoral Support Officer, was over the moon for students Erin Chidovsky, Dylan Johnston, Courtney Sharp and Frankie Gill who gained some great results after overcoming challenges this year.

“It’s certainly been a roller-coaster of a week and I am so pleased that the students receiving their GSCE results today, won’t have to go through the same uncertainty that our Sixth Form students went through last week. Our students have been through five months of uncertainty with their exams being cancelled, Proms being postponed and not being able to see their friends during lockdown. It is only right that this generation has now been given some certainty, so they can apply for courses knowing what they have achieved. I am incredibly proud with the resilience they have shown during this time and I wish them luck on the next step of their journey, whether with us in the Sixth Form or at college or on an apprenticeship.”
