Last week, our U18 hockey team took on the challenge of the County Hockey Tournament at Bedford Hockey Club. With a determined squad of nine, they faced strong competition from Bedford Girls School, Redborne, Biddenham, and two Bedford Allstars teams made up of players from various schools.

After finishing second in the group stage, Whitbread went head to head with Bedford Girls School, who boasted an England youth international at the heart of their team. Despite a valiant and determined effort, bolstered by players from eliminated teams, our squad fought hard before eventually conceding 3-0 to the tournament’s eventual winners. This set up a third and fourth place play off against a Bedford Allstars side, where our Whitbread superstars secured a well-earned victory.

The team was widely praised by tournament organisers, supporters, and fellow competitors for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and outstanding performances. A special mention goes to Lucas S, whose incredible display in the semi final has earned him an invitation to train with the Bedford Talent Academy, a fantastic achievement!
