Samuel Whitbread Academy

KS5

We believe that every student should have the OPPORTUNITY to ACHIEVE and EXCEL. At Samuel Whitbread, high attainment, ambition and aspiration are celebrated. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves in every aspect of school life.

In the Sixth Form, we provide tailored support for students considering applications to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities, as well as courses in Medicine and Veterinary Science. At the start of their time with us, students are identified for this focused guidance, with regular reviews throughout their Sixth Form journey. We ensure that their subject choices align with the entry requirements for their desired university and course, such as selecting at least two facilitating subjects.

Additionally, support is available for those applying for higher-level apprenticeships. Sixth Form staff, form tutors, and the High Attainers' Coordinator collaborate to facilitate work experience placements, volunteering opportunities, and other impactful activities, all of which contribute towards strengthening university applications.

We have an extensive SWA Alumni network made up of former students who can assist in providing more recent experiences and advice about university and apprenticeship applications.  The application process is well-supported, including extensive checking of personal and tutor references and providing practice interviews with experienced professionals.
