Facilities
We have 4 canteen locations at the Academy serving students at various points in the school day. More information about opening times and which students can access particular facilities can be found below:

  • The Main Canteen - this is open to students in all year groups before school for breakfast, at breaktime for snacks and at lunchtime for main meals.

  • The Pit Stop (DT Block) - this smaller canteen area is exclusive to students in Year 9 at breaktime for snacks and at lunchtime for main meals.

  • The Street Hatch - this servery is open to all students at break and lunch for ‘on the go’ snacks and meals.

  • The Blues Café - this area is open exclusively for students in the Sixth Form from Period 1 until the end of lunch (hours may vary slightly from day to day depending on other catering requirements). Students are able to purchase typical café items at this location, such as hot drinks, soft drinks and chocolate, as well as hot snacks.

Costs and Payment

The current price for a ‘meal deal’ including a ‘main meal’ and the ‘dessert of the day’ or a bottle of water is £3.00.

Individual prices for items are displayed alongside them in each canteen if students are unsure.

The preferred method of payment in our canteens is our biometric payment system. This is setup on your child's first day during their induction and their account can be topped-up via ParentMail. If you would prefer for your child's biometric data not to be taken, the same system can be used via name lookup.

In an emergency, the Main Canteen has facilities to take payment or top up an account via a bank card or contactless. Sixth Form students are also able to pay by card or contactless payment in the Blues Café.

Students in receipt of free school meals will receive an automatic top up each day up to the value of the meal deal to use as they wish. Any unspent balance will be removed at the end of each day. Parents/Carers are able to top up your child's account to cover any overspend and this balance will not be removed unless spent.

Allergens

All of our canteen facilities are fully compliant with the latest allergen guidance, including Natasha’s law. Information regarding allergens is detailed on menus/displays. If an allergen has been declared to the Academy, we will make every effort to inform the canteen provider of this so they can place a note on your child's account. If your child is unsure or needs further clarification, they should speak to a member of the canteen staff who will be happy to assist.

It is Accents policy not to sell items to any student containing an allergen they have an allergen marker for. To avoid this being an issue, please keep us informed of any changes to your child's allergies or dietary requirements. You can update your child's information via EduLink at any time or by emailing
